Happy Fall

Hello everybody,
I'm still going strong on the knitting front. I finished the sweater.I made the buttons that are on the sweater...FEMO buttons, perfectly coordinated with the sweater colors.
On Saturday we(DH,B and Me) drove to Cripple Creek,Victor and down to Canon City on the Phantom Canyon road. The Rocks and the Leaves were spectacular!! When we got to Canyon City we went to Holy Cross Abbey for the Fall Festival and Wine Tasting. We all had a good time, the dogs got along fairly well, B's dog not as well socialized  as our Cammi. I bought some apples and some Merlot wine.
We  tried a new (new to us) Josephs  on Eighth Street. Everything looked good and tasted good but I got a really bad stomach ache when we got home. The stomach ache lasted all night..no other symptoms just a pain, gluten allergy pain.
We met the folks who are building the house across the street from us, they will move into the new house in one month. I am looking foward to some peace and quiet around the hood. They seem like nice people,I got invited in to see the house...nice but not my taste.
I'm going to California to dog sit with my Granddog while D#2 and hubby go to Las Vegas for a few days. I will see D#4 while I'm there as well.

Finishing Frenzy

Good Morning All!
I'm finally at a point in my knitting journey where I think I will have several FOs. Finished Objects to those of you not in the know...Ha I finished  the forest canopy shawl, now I have to give it a soak and pin it to the blocking board. I also have less than half a long sleeve to knit on the A-line sweater from the Runway Knits book. I have more but I won't brag.
Other news...I'm pretty sure that even though D#5 is the freshman at college,I am the one gaining th dreaded freshman 15. I eat because I'm lonely and I'm lonely because I eat.Ha He Seriously though I can't stay out of the kitchen and three beggar pets are always right on my heels. I made Bananas Foster TWO nights in a row YIKES. I'll have to stop buying bananas if I can't stop abusing them that way.
I went an another outing with B and E, a free piano concert at Colorado College. We didn't stop for ice cream after. B seemed too annoyed with E. Oh well. We do what B says we do.
I am going to be home alone for a few days again... Lots to do. The weather has been really beautiful here for a week, and it is supposed to be nice this week as well. Good for us.
Yesterday was my grand daughters birthday... Happy third birthday little one, where ever you are.

This and That

So,we are having busy times. We picked up the broken down Earth Roamer from Glenwood Springs. All fixed but it will take awhile before I'm comfortable that something won't go wrong... That experience was a VERY big deal. It was a beautiful day and a gorgeous drive. I insisted that we make two yarn store stops on the way, one in Minturn and one in Buena Vista. Nice shops but as I said in a previous post I don't need much of anything. I did exercise restraint, I bought one type of sock yarn, some knitting mag rags and a really neat stack of little espresso cups with saucers all on a holder, vertical stacked neatly, six different colors. I bought three very large buttons for the sweater that I'm knitting .No pictures yet...I'm sure that when I finely figure out the process I'm going to feel stupid. I feel stupid about it already, so what?
We are driving to Greeley today,to take D#5 and a friend out to dinner. That or go, to friends and family weekend, at the end of the week. The emty nest feels really emty at times and then it doesn't. I had a good conversation with D$4  Ha Ha that is a type O but it works HE HE .Oh Boy ... She has a bad habit of letting her cell phone messages get full so I can't reach her . I DO NOT LIKE THAT. I know she is busy doing all that creative stuff that she is brilliant at,I'm PROUD of her. I am so happy that certain people are getting such a large charge out of reading my blog.
Thanks for stopping by!!

Home Alone!

I am indeed home alone!! DH is out of town for business for Two days. Yippee. I could possibly get some work done around here. Oh yeah we have a very needy dog and two cats who think that they are needy dogs...guess the idea of getting anything done is out the window. Seriously though I am beginning the process of organizing the space where the knitting and needlepoint magic happens.
I don't need more clothes,I don't need any more yarn or needles,I have more needlepoint canvases than I could finish in my lifetime. I know how to knit I know how to needlepoint,I  have even learned how to spin my own yarn. I'd like to have some fiber animals and a few chickens but that's not happening in this neighborhood I have allot of books on all of my interests and quite a few other interesting books that I want to read. I think my goal for this winter is going to be to get organized and settle down and just utilize my acquired resources. Oh we are supposedly planning a wedding for D#3...I think we will probably  be getting an invite and be expected to show up and write the check or some scenario like that. I think that it is good to make a little plan  and try to stick to it. Our plan for the  emty  nest was to not have more pets for five or more years and to travel etc. but being the somewhat compulsive couple that we are we opted  for the new puppy and two new kitties plan. Yikes!!!
Enjoy your day!

Tuesday, September 9, 2008

Hello to all.I can't believe that it's already Tuesday! I had a fairly uneventful weekend-that's a good thing. I did see the movie with D#5 and DH. OK I think it's official I'm over the hill. I couldn't stop my mind from thinking ,who comes up with this stuff??? The movie was crazy and at times uncomfortably funny. After getting my knitting project back on track,I got a good amount of progress on it. I cooked a few meals and got allot of the laundry done from the dark hole that is the lower level of my house. That is where the two lovelies D#4 and D#5 live when they are home. I don't go down there all that often because I go apoplectic when I do. I shouldn't say that because they do a pretty good job. HA HA.
I went to see a lecture given by George Will, hosted by Colorado College, last night. I picked up B and her friend E. It was awesome. We stopped for some ice cream at Josh and Johns after. E tripped going up the curb on the way in...I caught - I  saved her from a nasty fall. Always interesting with the late eighty somethings.
I'm going to the crap(craft) fair on Friday with my knitting friend J. It's over at the Rock Ledge Ranch.
Make the best of this day,it will be gone before you know it!!

Not the best Day,but not that bad

I started the day with a little fighting and discussion, just to gain some focus.I was sure that my mood was too sour for my weekly knitting group... pulled myself together and went.I should have stayed home. Group knitting or knitting while in a group can only be productive if THE WHOLE GROUP  understands that you knit and are respectful of the flow. The flow is important because we are all knitting different patterns, some needing more concentration. Talking during lulls in the knitting is fine, that is flow. Talking constantly and needing recognition of said talking interrupts the flow and then MISTAKES happen. I came home after two hours, then, spent the afternoon  UN KNITTING. I got things back on track.
D#4 called to tell me about an assignment that she completed and was excited about. D#4 is a senior at a very prestigious University in CA. I got excited about her work too,she sent a picture  to my email. I'm proud of all work done and goals reached by my children and their friends too.
I got a call from D#2 this afternoon also, hashed over current events and had a nice conversation. D#5, a freshman at a prestigious instate university is home for the weekend, maybe we will go to see Tropic Thunder tomorrow.
I really hit the wall with the pets today, the cats sneeze and beg for food and the dog nips me and begs for food. I really hope that they outgrow some of the behaviors that I find exhausting. After dinner I watched Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day. My kind of movie, I loved it.

Picture

Well I guess I got a picture on the blog ! Not where I want it or the size. I'm frustrated now.

Cold Front

It was 63 degrees in the house this morning, just a titty bit nipply, if ya know what I mean. Cool weather means soup weather so I made some. I like making soup and I think I do a good job with it. The soup of the day was vegetable with some brown rice in it.
I got the pictures from the trip printed and delivered to B this afternoon, along with some of the soup. We took our dog Cammi  with us, Bs dog Ferghus was a total bully.
I got a fair amount of knitting done today so I feel OK about the days accomplishments. Tonight I am going to watch the Republican Convention. Still no help with pictures on the blog. All in due time I guess.

Unexpected Roadtrip

I just returned from an interesting two day drive from Colorado Springs to Savery Wyoming. The reason for the journey was to lay to rest a pioneer and rancher.I accompanied [drove] my friend B. who is her cousin. I have heard many wonderful stories from B. about growing up in and travelling in and around CO and Wyoming. The lady  who passed  has a daughter that still carries on the job of ranching. We had a great country funeral lunch featuring, what else?Beef. The best beef I've had. I came away realizing that the West is still pretty WILD. Oh, did I mention that we had Bs. little dog Ferghus along with us? Good Times.
I have a weather headache today, must go do some knitting.
My next move is figuring out how to put up a photo??!!
